WHAT IS VILLA MONITOR?
An entry control system specially designed for the holiday property market. It allows an owner to control access to a property in the smallest detail, using a pin-code system uploaded via a mobile phone SIM card or a proximity token.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Access can be controlled by the hour, day, week or month to authorise access to management companies, tenants, holiday guests, cleaners, gardeners and maintenance workers.
WHY NOT JUST USE KEYS?
If you own a property that is rented out, keys need to be (or will have been) given to many other people. Do you know how many are still in circulation? Can you be sure copies haven’t been made? Are you relying on somebody else to let people into your property when you are not there? Villa Monitor does away with the cost, inconvenience and security issues of keys. If you still want to maintain keys for some entrances, and are uncertain about the location of any keys that fit the current locks, we can also replace locks and supply brand-new keys.
SO WHAT EXACTLY DOES IT MONITOR?
The system is totally flexible, and enables you to set each person’s access rights – including dates, times and duration. For instance, codes can last for as short as an hour (to allow access to contractors) or for extended periods of time for property maintenance companies, tenants, visiting friends, etc. Outside of these times, entry will be denied.
IS IT COMPLICATED TO OPERATE?
Villa Watch manages the entire system for you as part of the monthly fee, and offers unlimited code changes. All you need to do is email us with the information and we will do the rest.
DO I NEED TO INSTALL IT THROUGHOUT THE PROPERTY?
Access can be given to the entire property or specific points such as a gate, a door or individual rooms. Each installation is tailor-made to suit your needs.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO INSTALL?
Never more than a full working day, and often less.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS?
From €450 installation (+ €45 per month management) to €1100 (+ €28.80 per month management), depending on the system(s) chosen. All initial contracts are for two-years.

Before deciding on a particular system, are there any questions I should ask the security company?
Before you disclose any personal details, ensure that you have checked the credentials of your chosen company and request proof of identity from the representative.
Does the alarm system reach the required European Standard?
Is the equipment you are installing in the language you require? For instance, many alarms fitted in Portugal have all the instructions in Portuguese including voice-activated instructions. (Villa Watch install UK systems with everything in English).
Are there any maintenance and/or monitoring contracts, or additional hidden extras, such as call-out charges?
Do you own or rent the system?
What period of time does the guarantee last for, and what happens if there is a problem after that?
Ask if there is a 24 hour call-out service, and emergency attendance within 4 hours.
Ask the installers for adequate training on how to operate the system. If in doubt ask again.
Do not accept verbal contracts. Ensure that any agreements between you and the company are written, and that you or your representative read the contents carefully before signing.
It's a fantastic feeling having control over your assets from 1700 miles away. The activity reports are great. It's good not to have to worry about keys or how many duplicates have been made.
